Federal Work Study (FWS) means JOBS on campus for students. It is a form of federal financial aid. To be eligible, you must:

  • have a complete FAFSA on file at MCC

  • have an unmet financial need

  • enroll in at least six (6) credit hours

  • meet satisfactory academic progress

The position will be the first point of contact for prospective students and their parents. Tour guides will deliver in-person and virtual campus tours associating buildings with programs of study, exploring points of interest, locations of services, etc. These tours could be in small, medium, or large groups. Tour guides may also be required to perform other job-related duties as assigned. Provide Customer service experience involving a high volume of public contact.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the delivery and coordination of tours to prospective students and their guests.
  • Support students to complete the application process.
  • Perform basic office skills.
  • Design flyers and other marketing materials.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience involving a high volume of public contact.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of office productivity software (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, etc) and computer technology.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus

The role of the Community Engagement Assistant is vital to the success of the Center for Community & Civic Engagement! The job duties and responsibilities include working under the supervision of office staff to help coordinate department projects, programs, and events. Assist with general office work. Provide incoming students, staff/faculty, and community with pertinent departmental information and/or documents. Provide general assistance to students, staff/faculty, and community with service-learning and civic engagement information. Attend campus and/or community tabling events to promote student engagement opportunities and departmental information. Assist with events, including but not limited to; set up, clean up, staffing, and food preparation. May assist with technological support; creating flyers, data entry, research, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be a student at Mesa Community College (minimum of 6 credit hours)

  • Receive federal financial aid (Pell Grant) from Mesa Community College*

  • Available to work the 2023-2024 academic year

  • Attend mandatory student staff meetings on Fridays.

Essential Functions:

  • 60% Greets and logs students in and out for Center usage; provides front-line customer service; schedules tutoring appointments; monitors the virtual front desk
