Personal Training

The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Personal Trainer is designed to provide students with the foundational skills needed to design and implement fitness routines appropriate to clients' goals and aligned with current industry best practices. The curriculum for this certificate fosters the development of critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills important for developing and implementing individualized exercise programs. A CCL in Personal Training: Advanced and an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Exercise Science: Health, Fitness, and Sports Performance are also available for students interested in continuing their studies in this field.

  7. Apply theories of motivation and behavior change to promote health, improve fitness, and enhance quality of life.
  8. Demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior within a fitness professional`s scope of practice.
  9. Communicate verbally, non-verbally and in writing in an articulate, respectful, empathetic and culturally competent manner.

  • The course sequence is laid out by suggested term and may be affected when students enter the program at different times of the year.
  • Initial course placement is determined by current district placement measures and/or completion of 100-200 level course and/or program requirements.
  • Degree and transfer seeking students may be required to successfully complete a MCCCD First Year Experience Course (FYE) within the first two semesters at a MCCCD College. Courses include AAA/CPD150, AAA/CPD150AC, CPD104, and AAA115/CPD115. Course offerings will vary by college. See an academic, program, or faculty advisor for details.
