Profile

Tara Cook is an Adjunct Faculty in the Communication department at Mesa Community College (MCC). Ms. Cook also holds dual-appointment as Senior UX Writer (IT) and Technical Communication Faculty Associate for Arizona State University. She specializes in professional and technical communication and user experience. In 2018 and 2019, Tara presented her independent international research, with conference funding provided by Adobe, on intercultural user experience and health information at two national conferences. Looking ahead, Ms. Cook plans to continue her practitioner and academic work with focuses on student success, technology, and user expereince.

Theory and practice of communication skills which affect day-to-day interactions with other persons. Topics may include using verbal and nonverbal symbols, interactive listening, resolving interpersonal conflict, developing and maintaining personal and professional relationships. Interpersonal, organizational, intercultural, group, and public communication in business and professional organizations. Emphasis on oral communication and the effective use of technology and new media.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ENG101, or ENG107, or equivalent.
